Mach 5 to Replace Gigasstudios

Post by rimskykorsakov2002 »

Hello All.

I am thinking of replacing my two Gigastudio PCs with a couple of new Mac Minis running the new Mach 5 standalone.

This will be primarily to run my Giga orchestral library.

Any thoughts, problems, tips, reccomendations?

thanks!

my translations haven't worked as smoothly as I hoped... I'd worry about horse power too. One older giga box can supply me with _much_ more 'orchestra' than my G52x2 with M5v2 in DP. I haven't experimented with standalone use, but I'd bet 2 GStudio boxes will be hard to replace with just two Minis running M5 unless you didn't really max the gigas out. My wildest guess is that Giga is twice as efficient.

Perhaps you could get one mini running M5v2 and check the results before buying two Minis and two M5 licenses.

(I'd love to make my studio Mac only... )
