DP5.12 on a new Mac Pro, not working HELP!!!!!
I've installed DP 5.12 on a new Mac Pro. I can import audio to the soundbites window, but when i grab a handle to drop it into the sequence editor, it just snaps back. I've been fighting this for about a week now-with MOTU not helping much. Basically, I can't get a waveform to show up in the program at all. I have DP5 sessions on an external hard drive, when I open those sessions, all of the track names, fader positions, colors, and sample rate comes in just fine, but no waveforms in the sequence editor. Does anone know what the deal is? I'm really thinking it's the new Mac. Can I get some help PLEASE!!!!!

this might be a dumb question, but are the sample rates the same?
also, in the soundbites window, do the soundbites have the ~ (or double ~) icon in the far left column? or is it a red x?

Sample rates for files being imprted are 24bit 48k, as is the session. The "handles" look normal, no red x's. On DP 5.12, sample rates should be converted to the sessions' settings automatically. It's one of the new features of 5.12. The problem exists no matter what. If I open up a new session, drag a file off of the desktop into the soundbites region, I still cant grab the soundbite and drop it into a "track". There is a waveform in the waveform editor, but I have never been able to see a waveform in the sequence window-ever. Soundbites just won't go there! They just stay snapped to the sounbites window.
There are a couple of things to try. In the sequence editor, click on the "I" (page 390, insert soundbite). This brings up a list of files from the soundbite window. Select the file from the list, click OK, then click on the track (in the sequence editor) where you want it inserted.
If that doesn't work, try dragging the soundbite from the soundbite window to the left side of the tracks window. This should create a new track with the same name as the soundbite and place the soundbite at the beginning of that track. If this works, it probably means that the tracks you created are not compatible with the soundbites you selected (i.e., stereo vs mono or audio vs MIDI, etc.). If this does not work, it probably means something is screwed up and you should consider a re-install OR something is wrong with the audio files.
I'm using 5.12 with a Mac Pro on a daily basis with very few problems.
Don't give up yet! Try these things and get back to us.

Thanks so much for the help and quick responses. What you have suggested, I will try, but I'm pretty sure it won't work. I have installed and reinstalled DP 5 several times. My next logical troubleshooting step is to reload OS X. Are there any tips, suggestions, things to be aware of when doing this. I am quite new at dealing with mac set-up. At what point do I determine that the Mac Pro is the problem. I am in a real crunch here. Again, thanks very much.

I think Phil O may have nailed it ••“ you can't drag a stereo soundbite to a mono track and vice versa. The soundbite will just snap back to the Soundbite Window.
Also, for existing projects where audio is not showing up in the TO, have you checked your Global (and Event List) View Filters?
Kind regards.
