clean install

Post by guitarsark »

since i have been having some problems with my computer i am thinking of doing a clean install. however i would like to save some files. i have another mac and i know that i can somehow hook them up together and use my old mac as a storage space but i cant remember how to do it. i'm pretty sure i connect them via usb cable then restart holding some key down but cant remember which key.
also if there is some way that i can clean get rid of crap i dont need without reinstalling all my software could someone let me know.

USB won't work for this ••“ this type of connection is called Firewire Target Disk Mode.

Connect your "storage" Mac via Firewire. Start it up and hold down the "T" key until you see the Firewire logo on its monitor. Its primary drive/partitions should then be mounted on your desktop.

To disconnect, drag the "storage" HD to the trash, then turn off the "storage" machine and disconnect the Firewire cable.

Kind regards.
