hi guys
OK i finally got my new iMac 2.4 yesterday (which i will dedicate another thread to). OK setup assistant, migration assistant and firewiring my old mac's HDD haven't worked. I have the firewire symbol on my old mac but nothing on my new iMac. migration assistant nor mounting the old mac via target mode - nothing works!!
any suggestions?

Consider how much coffee you're drinking..
...it's probably not enough.

Check your cables to make sure they are firmly seated.
Check About This Mac to see if the computer sees something connected, even if it says "unknown".
Check Disk Utility to see if the unknown drive appears in the list but is marked as being unmounted. If so, click the button at the top to mount the drive to see if that works.
If all else fails, use your older computer to back up the drive data first. Then reformat your drive using the Disk Utility on your new computer. Once it mounts, restore your drive data on your new computer.

thanks mate. there appears to be an issue with this, after checking various forums. no it doesn't show up in disk utility.
