Pedal problem not fixed in 2.01

Post by Kurt Cowling »

Can anyone else who is having the sustain/hold pedal problem confirm for me whether 2.01 does/doesn't fix the problem? It does not fix it for me. I booted up M5v2 in stand alone so I could check the version number and it said 2.01.

In case anyone besides me is paying attention...

MOTU has confirmed that the sustain/hold pedal fix did NOT make it into the 2.01 updater.

It was probably imperative to get the "standalone flu" fix out that day, as that was preventing people from actually opening MachFive2. I'm sure they will get a fix for it as soon as they can.

In the meantime, do you have a regular pedal you could use? The problem doesn't affect over 99% of all sustain pedals, as continuous sustain pedals are pretty rare in the synth/sampler industry. It's questionable as to whether MachFive2 or most other piano samplers actually utilize continuous data for sustain.

I have the pedal that came with my Yamaha P-90 which is... you guessed it, also continuous. I have an old Roland pedal that is the wrong polarity, but maybe that's switchable on the S90-ES.

I certainly didn't expect M5 to actually utilize the continuous data. But the sounds in my S90-ES do and that's my controller and one of my main sound sources.
