Due to space considerations on my laptop (and little cash to upgrade stuff at the moment), I will need to take off vers 1 before upgrading to ver 2.
Has anyone taken off ver 1? If so, does it delete the old machfivefolder; just it's instruments within it, or leave it as is.
Are there samples in ver 2 that are duplicates of ver 1? What samples would you recommend keeping from ver 1, especially those that have no replacement in ver 2?
The upgrade manual suggests saving songs using ver 1 as performances. If I then move the dir outside of the ver 1 MVfolder, will it still be seen intact by ver 2?
Thx
Some upgrade q's

Do you have enough room to install just M5 without the samples? That way you can make sure that your v1 setups work before uninstalling v1.
If you're that close to having a full hard drive, you may want to do some overall house cleaning- back up unused projects, delete old docs, etc.

i ran my M52 for about 4 days without any of it's sounds. i was just playing everything in my old M5 folder with no problems. i wanted to know how it was going to work with my current sounds before i got into the new sounds.

OK. So I installed just the program as Homebilly did and that works fine.
I also found out that you can load presets directly from the DVD drive and then save them onto the hard disk, so if there are some volumes that you only want a few sounds from you don't need to copy the entire image to your HD.
Many of the presets in M51 are duplicated in M52 so there's a lot you can delete from the M51 Machfivefolder. I will list them below later if they aren't already listed somewhere else.
