Mach V 2 Piano problems
Does anyone else who has Mach 5 II notice that the B2 key on the pianos has an unmistakable click? I can't imagine it is only on my sample set.

more piano note clicks
so does b3
and Ab 4
and Eb 2
and E 2
and B 3
most of these are at softer velocities besides the B2 and B3
one bad sample makes the piano utterly useless! MOTU needs to fix this along with the stuck notes using sustain pedal!
I was getting excited by some of the sounds at first, but these "beta-like" mistakes are VERY unprofessional. MOTU has no excuse and hopefully will have updates to correct! I've only spent 1/2 hour so far!

Re: Mach V 2 Piano problems
Can you be more specific as to which sample set? Which piano exactly? I've tried several, and no clicks anywhere. I put on headphones and turned it up pretty loud in case I was missing it somewhere, but nothing. It just runs perfectly fine.conleycd wrote:Does anyone else who has Mach 5 II notice that the B2 key on the pianos has an unmistakable click? I can't imagine it is only on my sample set.

Could it possibly be that you've got an overloaded or slow hard drive? Are you trying to run the pianos without streaming? Just possibilities, as I'm not getting any clicks at all. The pianos are quite beautiful, actually, and would be appropriate for any recording, if you like the sound.

Now, I should try the samples again on a higher buffer... but it was very clearly on German Grand Samples - most of them. It is more audible on lower velocities. MOTU tech agreed that it was problematic - I sent them a sample. I'm not at my computer right now but I hope that it is not just buffer related - it didn't sound that way.

Do the clicks occur near the beginning of the note? Or are they in the fading tail? Honestly, I've gone up and down the scale at various velocities, and I have not heard a single click in the entire piano. I've done the first several "German Grands" down to the Classical, and I tried the Honky Tonk as well. Occasionally I'd hear an extremely faint pop in my audio system -- maybe 2 or 3 times over several hours of playing, but it was not reproducible. (My audio system just does that now and then, but very rarely these days.)
I'm not doubting that you're hearing something; I'm just trying to figure out what it could be. But at this point I'm thinking it's probably not in the samples themselves. The pianos sound clean to me.
When I play any piano as a plugin in Digital Performer, and if I have more than one input/output chosen in the Hardware Setup (for instance, if I select both the 896 and PCI-424, or even add my Harmon Kardon Soundsticks into the lineup), then I get clicks and pops on note entry, but not in the playback. That's a long-time, well-documented bug that nobody has been able to completely figure out, though syncing your units to an external clock can fix it if it's a good clock, and if it's connected properly.
Try it as a standalone with only one audio interface selected. See if you still get the pops.

clicks and pedal
the clicks I heard was auditioning the standalone version.
just loaded the plugin in DP.
german piano #1 - definite clicks in all the notes mentioned above - no headphones necesary. already been verified by MOTU. B below Middle C is the worst - soft velocity - inexcuseable in my opinion.
the pedal problem is horrible and renders the plugin unuseable until it is fixed. If my sustain pedal works for every other instrument and plugin under the sun, it is a problem with MOTU M52.
in fact I'm gonna call them right now!

What is the pedal problem you're having? Could you describe it? Is it sticking? Or is it not sustaining?
Oh well, it's more of the same stuff; some people are having problems that other people do not have. So is it broken or working fine? Hard to tell, but it seems that the fact that some of us do not have the problems would indicate that the problems are not in the samples or program itself, but in how they are set up or how they are being used. Seems like we'd be able to isolate those kinds of problems pretty quickly. We'll see.
Anyway, for the record: no pedal problem here. Zero.
And also for the record: no clicks or pops in the M5 piano audio.

My B2 in German Grand from vel 1 to 62 (German v2 U67 B2.aif) does have that click too.conleycd wrote:Does anyone else who has Mach 5 II notice that the B2 key on the pianos has an unmistakable click? I can't imagine it is only on my sample set.

Edit: .. and the F1 in GG is not in tune. I'm not very impressed on M5's new Pianos. Though after using couple of hours M5v2, I like the program itself very much.

Really anoying
I think this problem make it unusable too. Motu should at least edit the patch in a way that we dont use these samples. I try to solve the problem by removing the bad samples but I find it difficult with all these layers...

my cpu is going into the red and I've got audio clicks & pops when trying to record pianos onto audio track, Can anyone help I've removed all plugins and turned off all other audio track other than the ones I'm using to record the pianos. I'm using a MIDI device group with 4 piano sounds .

Unfortunately that's probably due to a too slow HD. You should try to record with another less CPU-intensive sound, then higher thhe buffer and playback/edit with MachFive's Piano...

Buffers ?
What CPU ?
Do you have the samples on the same drive as the audio tracks ?
