VSL performance Legato Samples?

VSL performance Legato Samples?
Mach52 has legato setting in layers. Can this be used to duplicate the VSL legato tool?
Any instructions?
The samples come across fine themselves, but without legato tool, they are useless...javascript:emoticon(':?')

Do you mean can you duplicate whatever 'rules' M5 uses for the VSL leg patches as a template for your own?
Interesting question.
If it's anything like K2 scripts for VSL leg patches then probably not as those are password protected.
Does M5 use passwords for rules? In fact can rules even be saved on their own outside of M5 (like scripts can)?
(They are called 'rules' in M5, aren't they? ....or id I make that up?)

I don't know about the legato tool in VSL, but I've found some pretty sophisticated rule-based performances in M5.2 with the VSL sounds, including up/down bowing and switching layers based on various criteria which creates a realistic sound.
Try opening some of the crossfades and triggers files, perhaps in presets or performances, rather than just sample-level containers. I'm learning the rules by doing, and will attempt to learn more by reading later on. So far I've made a lot of progress, though I still don't know how to make some of the rules work yet. I'm sure it's not hard once you find the key to it. It's a little like a puzzle. There is probably an answer, and if you figure it out we'd all appreciate knowing it. I'm betting that you will get more out of it than you're expecting to.

Some VSL legato samples included
I finally realized that VSL included some legato samples in M52!!!!!
The included legatos are Fl, Vln, Vla, Vlc, and Hrn.
These are set up very different than importing a existing giga VSL legato instrument.
The layer section does not seem intuitive compared to the layering done in the Vienna Instruments player. But I'm sure someone can figure it out and hopefully post instructions how to convert imported VSL legatos to M52 ones.
As for me, time to stop playing around and get back to work. I just hope MOTU can fix the sustain pedal issue quickly so I can start using this beast. The rest of M52 seems really nice and I celebrate the day I never have to build another PC machine for gigasampler!!!!!!!

What's wrong with the Sustain Pedal? Mine works fine. I checked it with a number of presets, and all sustain as they are supposed to.
The only problem I can think of might be that a sustain pedal might appear to be hung when you've keyswitched to another layer while leaving the previous layer sustaining. That's not a bug, in my opinion, and is actually quite useful, so I am wondering what has been reported in regard to CC64. Seems to be all working properly on mine.
Also, all the VSL instruments play legato very nicely, not just the ones you mentioned. If you choose the sustain version, they play well.

stuck notes in pedaling
this pedal problem:
http://www.motunation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22476
nothing to do with keyswitching, happens on any sound.
Swooshie: Are you talking about all the VSL included in Mach52? because that's what I listed. But I was talking about VSL samples translated from the giga format. If you upload one of those legato samples, it does't include lawyer legato rules and is completely different than the samples included with Mach52. I'm just happy that legato is possible with it, but I would like to get more of my previous giga VSL library working too.

I'm talking about the VSL from Mach Five-2. I do not have any other VSL products that I know of. So you're saying that the troubles you are having stem from importation from Giga format?
Can you take the same instrument from M5.2 and Giga (both the same VSL instrument, such as Flute, or Trumpet) and compare the programming on each? It could be that you can duplicate all the settings in the M5.2 VSL preset, save it as an FX, and create a performance using your Giga VSL samples with the saved FX data, making the setup for each sample basically a one-click fix, plus saving the performance.
Or is the problem more in the sampling layers, their assignments, releases, and so forth?
