Post by guitarsark »

i just noticed that battery is selling something called studio drums. it looks like you can import kits into battery. does anyone have any experience with this? i hat to go out and buy ezdrummer when i have battery. most of what i'll be using it for is blues and jazz type stuff.
fyi i have battery 2 not 3.

I bought them back around the time of Battery 1. I don't know if they have changed them at all or not.

There are 11 or 12 main kits and then some snares and toms. They offered more articulations and were generally better programmed than the kits that shipped with Battery 1 and Kontakt 1. They are basically just well recorded acoustic drumkits with different kits for various styles. The stereo kits are my favorites.

If you already have Battery then you are familiar with how much or little tweaking you can do. I think that newer drum VIs let you tweak the sound more than you can with Battery. There are no room sounds or different mic placement samples with the Battery Studio Drums. I always felt like they were a little dry. To me they sound like a collection of separate drum hits and not a kit being played in a room.

These days I mostly use the Reason Drum Kits, because they are more tweakable and I hate trying to set up drum kits in Kontakt(I don't have an Intel version of Battery).
