I agree. There should be preferences for the default fade in, fade out, and crossfade (dare i say, like Pro Tools). I hate the way that if I do one s-curve fade out on a soundbite, then everytime I go to do a fade after that it tries to do s-curves everywhere - even on my crossfades.burn em wrote:4 - DP should remember what kind of fade was used last in the project when reopened and not default to the flat ramp fade.

There are two "improvements" which appear to have created at least two redundancies-- perhaps oversights?
1. Clicks in the conductor track now seem odd. When you set up a tempo such as 12/8, you indicate a dotted-quarter as the click. The click still clicks on every other eighth-note as though the default 4/4 were still active for some reason until a second click is entered as the dotted-quarter or eighth, or whatever click you prefer. (No, the tempo slider is not active when this happens.)
Thing is-- we now have click patterns to govern how clicks are played within a certain tempo or meter, so the double assignment in the conductor track makes for what seems to be a redundancy. One should be able to set the meter to 12/8, set the dotted-quarter and be done-- unless a special click pattern is desired.
2. In Quick Scribe, there is a Score Option to display film cues. But further down in the QS mini menu there is another separate prompt to Show Film Cues as well. If one is selected but not the other, the display will not work. I'm not sure what purpose there would be for having to select this option in two different places.

Not only that, but, if you set up a non-4/4 click for the conductor track, and then go into WAIT Record mode (i.e. start the click track but wait for MIDI note to start recording) the click plays in 4/4 until you actually play a note after which time it kicks into the specified click. Makes it really hard to properly get into the groove of what you are trying to perform.Frodo wrote:Clicks in the conductor track now seem odd. Ah, yes! I forgot to mention that because I gave up on the wait feature long ago. I always start a bar or two ahead-- because.....zed wrote:Not only that, but, if you set up a non-4/4 click for the conductor track, and then go into WAIT Record mode (i.e. start the click track but wait for MIDI note to start recording) the click plays in 4/4 until you actually play a note after which time it kicks into the specified click. ... it still takes DP a measure or so to lock time after playback begins. The first MIDI note I enter is always very late no matter how close to the beat I play while subsequent notes are pretty close to where they're intended to be.
Other things:
If you are using Film Cues in QS, you can't edit the topmost staff.
We need a savvier control of the QS Zoom feature. It's easy enough to accidentally zoom from 100% to 700%, but there's no real control over incremental zooming.
I need to look at this some more, but I'd love to deactivate the QS zoom once my preferred size is set.
Edit:
I can't seem to find the Apple + Option + Click command--- I thought I could just remove it from the key commands entirely, but no such command appears in the QS menu commands options.

A true solo. A solo's kind of solo.
A solo function that is by definition a solo function.?
Dare I say not a Chewbacca.
Not a Princess Leah.
But a Han Solo, super captain kickarse kind of solo! Thats light on the fizz so you can slam it down. Ahhhh!!
I thought I'd removed all snapshots of my hippy days from the face of the 'net.
Doh! More Bigfoot taunts are a'comin' my way now, I'm afraid.

Oh yeah, I agree on the fade thing.
There's a bunch of parameters/behaviours that isn't remembered, AFAICT.
Hang, even the Mixer and SE window side panes seem to mess wit' your mind as far as folders go.
Speaking of the Mixer, wouldn't it be nice to be able to delete/rename more than one board layout at a time?
Oh, and how 'bout we get to order them too, eh?
Sorry, a transient moment of seriousness is rumoured to be good for the brain, and I need all the help I can get.

Re: Skins
Yep...I've been longing (yes kids..longing) for this for years now. It is a big deal to some of us when the hour is late and we're working with the lights low in the studio. If they just added a 'Midnight Mode' or something, where everything was toned-down it would be an improvement. But ultimately, give me those cool blue LEDs from the...4.5? box, and a gray/black background, and I'd be thrilled. [/b]belexes wrote:May not seem like a big deal, but I would like to see DP have some options as to it's look - user applied skins....
I have a large bright monitor, and there is so much "white" in DP (as compared to other DAW's) that it gets fatiguing after a while.

An EASIER way to move MIDI notes ALONG with the respective controller data (volume, pan, whatever).
Shooshie's work around (in the Tips sheet) does work indeed, but it's still a workaround, IMO. I just want to select a region and move it KNOWING that everything that is supposed to be moved will be moved, and still be the same in the new location. Fast and quick. Without having to double check.
Another vote here for being able to select tracks in the mixer. Please! I BEG for this!

Oh, and while we're at it, I wouldn't mind being able to see the track comments underneath the faders. That would be very useful. And, it could be a "detachable" component (as are the rest of them)
