download, I can download it, but there is no application that will open it.

You need to open it within DP, there is no stand alone version.

hey.... anyone know what format of plugin you use with DP 4.5? is it still MAS? I have been out of the DP game since v.3.0.2, and now I'm on OS X. The scoring in DP was always tops, and I have a small orchestral project coming up in the next few months.
a friend of mine tells me that theres some online deal where I can get a whole bunch of software for cheap from Sonic Reality. I wann use Sampletank and get all those string libraries for it. They have some deal on a site called esoundz.com
Anyone heard of this... anyway... not important, do those softwares work in MOTU's DP 4.5?

DP can also work with Mac VST VIs and plugins if you purchase a third-party app like AudioEase's VST Wrapper. fxpansion also makes a VST-to-AU conversion app that may prove suitable.
Many developers support the AU format, so your odds of finding a VI or plugin that'll work in DP are high. The exception: VIs and plugs made exclusively for ProTools.
IK's Sampletank will work in DP via AU. Sonic Reality is a sample library that plays within Sampletank (as well as some other software samplers, I believe), so it'd be compatible with DP as well.
