WARNING--DANGER: 10.4.11 Possible!!!

This is from macrumors, but it's not the first of such rumors.

Beware, DAW users!!!!!

Details on what 10.4.11 is supposed to fix are unclear at this time.

1. Read ALL documentation from Apple as well as sites such as MacFixit.com ahead of time for reports, improvements, and problems before doing the update.

2. Scour DAW forums for how other users are faring with this new update first.

3. Make sure you know whether a COMBO update will work better than using OSX's Software Update.

4. Before taking the plunge, be reasonably certain that this update will fix your particular problems --or-- be reasonably certain that this update will not cause more problems than it fixes.

5. Ask the developers of ALL your software how 10.4.11 helps or hurts performance. If you can't get specific answers on specific features both pro and con, don't do it. Repsonses such as "it should be okay" aren't good enough reasons. Get the hard cold facts!!

6. Press Apple hard for better explanations on what the update actually addresses. Blurbs such as "fixes an issue with USB" says absolutely nothing useful. Find out what the symptoms were and what types of apps were affected, then weigh that against your own system performance. If your USB is working fine, you may want to think twice before changing anything.

Now that the initial iPhone madness is behind us-- it's clear that Apple is revisiting a great number of OSX issues in advance of Leopard. There have been lots of "oops" fixes that fixed previously unbroken issues.

Just make sure you know what you're getting into before making the move. At this rate, there could be a 10.4.12 before 10.5 makes its debut.

We just had to know that when Apple, Inc. dropped "Computer" from their name, we were in for a rough ride.

Indeed. I miss the days of not having to worry so much about every little detail. This has been a miserable summer for me so far with Apple updates and I've only now been able to pimp-smack my system into some sort of cooperation.

No way I'm going to even consider 10.4.11 without some specific word from Apple about fixes that pertain specifically to DAWs or more importantly from MOTU directly.

think you ought to sit down calmly, take a stress pill, and think
things over. I know I've made some very poor decisions recently, but I
can give you my complete assurance that my work will be back to
normal. I've still got the greatest enthusiasm and confidence in the

Did anybody see the South Park episode where Cartman's "Trapper Keeper" notebook comes alive? In final scene, either Stan or Kyle is in the "core" and they spoof 2001, only with Cartman's voice "I'm sorry Kyle... I can't let you do that." Great stuff. I first saw 2001 at a drive inn theatre with my parents many years ago... when cars weighed more than 1000 lbs, etc. hehehe

But seriously, Apple just released a new security update that includes (cue ominous music...) Core Audio tweaks! I don't think I can stand much more of this...

Probably... I just remember how utterly ground-breaking the effects were back in 196?... I was a very SMALL child... I probably didn't even understand the movie... but it was cool!

I just got another FireWire Drive for backup purposes. Couldn't pass up 250 Gigs for $50 from Fry's and a FireWire/USB case for $8.29 after rebate, shipping and tax from New Egg. I will thus be soon ready to attempt a feat of extraordinary courage and daring: Run the latest OSX updaters. I'm not exactly in a rush given my recent unhappy results from attempting to install Kontakt 2.3.
