MIDI Drum Loops

Post by rcannonp »

I've finally resigned myself to the fact that I am no drummer, and I am not going to equal one with my MPD16. I was wondering if anyone could suggest some good places to look for pop/rock MIDI drum loops.

Glad to help. I downloaded some James Taylor stuff and though it sounds cheesy, I'm admiring the work that people put into transfering this stuff into MIDI. Some of them are better than others.

I guess those are fun to play around with, but I was hoping for something in more of the Twiddly Bits vein that might offer patterns and then variations and fills.

The quality of online MIDI files seems to vary between OK and awful. It usually seems like more work to fix those up than to just do it myself.

A MIDI version of Highway to Hell is good for a laugh though.

I hear you rcannon. Sometimes it's still useful to have this part and merge it with that part...

HAve you looked into Groove Monkey?

http://www.groovemonkee.com/home/

They offer both single and multi-track MIDI files in different styles and flavors. I use them quite a bit for beginning a song.

I wasn't familiar with them. It's exactly the kind of stuff that I'm looking for.

Thanks.

also try beatboy.com
and
smartloops.com

I have MIDI from both of these and Groovemonkee and they're all good quality. The beatboy MIDI has full songs as well as phrases.
