Thanks bongo. My cigar habit is so infrequent that I'd have to buy a decent humidor as it would take me months to go through a box. I've heard of JR before, but not CI. I have a friend who gets his at JR. I was responsible for turning him into a cigar nut over a decade ago. :-)

I found my receipt, it was folded up in my MachFive box of all places!

I just emailed them a legible photograph of the receipt along with the info requested on their store... If i remember correctly, in the past motu... Let's say "takes their time" sending the free upgrades... :D

There you go - my Kontakt 2 arrived yesterday and I installed it today.

My karma is pretty much rock solid on stuff like this.

Guess I'll post a competitive review in a few weeks after I get some experience with them.

Me too - smoke with about the same frequency too. I took a little trip to Cuba some years ago and just sort of slid into it (when in Rome). A Cuban cigar and glass of spiced rum is a lovely thing from time to time.

OTOH, I don't get cigarettes - I view them as the MD 2020 of tobacco - where good cigars are more akin to fine wine.

funny, I always say the same thing. when people that smoke cigarettes will say something about how they really enjoy a smoke, I say that's like drinking mad dog out of the bottle and saying you just like a little wine.

and I'm really psyched about m2. I've never really used a sampler before machfive and it looks like it is going to be what I wanted when I got version 1. it seems like it's going to be much more useful to me.

Looks like the wait was worth while, I've just watched the Quicktime vid that can be downloaded from the site.
Awesome
The problem is I brought ver. 1 six months too early so I'm going to have too spend some cash but that's not the worrying thing. When ver.1 was around Win 2000 was still supported now after all these delays when ver.2 is released it's not a listed OS.
Most things that run on XP will work on 2000 but I didn't upgrade my sequencer this year as I found out that with Cubase 4 the installer will deny the installation.
So anyone know how likely it is to work on Win 2000 before I part with $195

Because it's not listed, this would be an ideal question for MOTU tech support before taking the plunge.

Well after Quick TIme frustratingly hung IE several times, I downloaded a newer version of QT and was finally able to check out the M5ver2.

Looks like some cool stuff on there, tho, after listening to the Mp3s, I wasn't dazzled by the Orchestral stuff. Piano sound nice, but I didn't see anywhere that they had speeded up sample load times, so I'm not looking forward to loading up 8 gigs just for a piano.

I noted that they've added more automation, but I didn't see whether that also includes the affects (anyone know??).

Couldn't find my receipt, but the store I bought it from kindly emailed me a copy, so hopefully it'll be all systems go.

LOL... you were spot-on. I've always had this problem too, surely in part because it takes so long to save for gear between purchases.
The only solution to the problem, as far as I can tell, is simply to not buy anything.
Oh, except for MOTU gear, of course.

Disk streaming would probably go a long way in that department.

Apparently it does. Go to http://www.motu.com/products/software/m ... mance.html and scroll down to "External MIDI Control."

What about an 'unload unused samples' feature?

K2's purge feature is a real life saver. M5 does have this... doesn't it?
