Does anyone have a soft copy of the 2408 MKII user manual?
Would be greatly appreciated if someone could link me up to a copy.
Can't seem to find mine.

I say get with the 90's.
Oh well...
I'm trying to get a PC PDF manual for the UltraLite....
None on the install disk...could find none anywhere on Motu.com even after logging in...
Even emailed MOTU about it...no response yet.
I read a few things on the net about Motu not doing PDF, and figured that was that...
But then, I was digging around the MOTU folder on my drive, and low and behold there's an 88meg zip file in there containing 177 meg of PDF manuals for various MOTU products!!!
Hmm....so MOTU does do PDF...
A slight problem however......
All the PDF manuals were in either Japanese, Spanish or French...and none of them pertained to the UltraLite.

Good grief, what the heck kind of silliness is that?!
Chomping off 80 megs of drive space for a zip full of PDFs not even relevant to my unit or even in english!
So, is there a PDF manual for the UltraLite or not?
If not, why the heck not??
Thanks.

DOH!!
OMG!!
I feel like such an idiot....beyond an idiot.
I think in South Park I'd be referred to as an "r-tard".
I just discovered the paper manual that came with the UltraLite, has the complete Windows User Guide with it....if you just flip it over.
It's both manuals in one book back to back.
I never saw that before...I only ever saw the "User Guide For Macintosh" on the cover when I unpacked it, and assumed the upside down stuff I saw in the back of the book was French, Spanish or German....
Oy!
I'll get me coat.....
Oh well, it may not be PDF, but at least I can figure out what some aspects of the ultalite are that were a mystery.

Old topic, but very much a sore point with me.swiftness wrote:They do this so you don't pirate their hardware!! duh. Do you want them to start using iLoks on your HD192s!?! I sure don't.
I am going to assume from the user's name, (swiftness), that this was a sarcastic response. And I really hope it was, because the desired comedic effect at least allowed me to chuckle about the situation I currently find myself in.
But to address this notion, which I have seen posted numerous times elsewhere about MOTU's policy of bilking it's customers, I would like to vent the following...
Pirating hardware from an owner's manual? That has got to be the most retarded notion I have ever heard. I invite anyone reading this, to right now, look at your owner's manual. Are you any closer to building a knock-off unit? Companies who "pirate" electronics, start by obtaining the device they wish to copy. They then get engineers to tear-into it, to back engineer the device, and begin to create a process for re-creating and manufacturing their own version.
But let's just say that for a moment, MOTU are backward enough, (a notion I am not trying to dispell here), to not only include full engineering diagrams in their owner's manual, but also the code that is programmed onto any chips contained, as well as the code utilized in the software drivers. Am I to believe that their security for thousands upon thousands of dollars of R & D is the roughly $1000 price tag per unit. Have all of you with an owner's manual taken a secret oath with a handshake? Am I to believe that absolutely every last MOTU owner is so beyond reproach, that they can be trusted with the Colonel's Secret Recipe?????
Come on
Pure and simple, no PDF's = make more money.
One nasty catch though. Once they are out of manuals, nobody else can get that info. That is where I am right now. I bought a 2408 mk II slightly used, and didn't even think to ask for a manual, and why should I, I only ever use the PDFs anyways

I wish to use it in standalone mode for conversion. Problem is, I have no way to set this up. Nor have I found a way to do it by tinkering with it for hours, or searching online for answers. Closest I came was a pile of jitter coming out of the wrong ports. (I am hoping that was due to a wrong setting, and not the lousy clock this thing has).
Worst part is, I've had this unit for ever, and if I can't even get this kind of functionality out of it, it's tossed, (and I mean it, just after I smash it to bits). First, the 324 it came with was crap in both two Macs and every PC I ever tried it in. (Not saying it didn't work, just not up to snuff in my opinion). Second, when hooked into a DAW, it could barely supply or sync to clock. Finally, The broken half-rack that it is bracing together, (the only thing useful it has ever done) is no longer needed.
Please, if anybody has the info that will make this unit not a complete waste of money, please share. Although I have vented at length here, I am actually a pretty nice guy!
In return, I promise not to sell-off the plans to would be knock-off manufacturers

P.S., anybody try the Black Lion mods, and are they as good for the clocking as mentioned? If I can get this to convert properly, that will be my next step.
Thanks in advance.
He he! Nice one rblainetait! I can't help but join in. Thanks to another user I was able to at least find a PDF for the new Cuemix FX, however it's in the Mac downloads section -- apparently Windows users can't read. Apparently they can't write either, as one section of said manual states: "Naming an Input (Mac only)". How bizarre is that?
As for MOTU's lame excuse about pirating their hardware, with the reputation they are developing, I don't see a queue forming; what's more, why would they then post the damn firmware on the internet, if that was a concern!
BTW, did they ask you to jiggle the voltage selector? That one really breaks me up
MOTU are going to have to wake up. If you charge top dollar you can't pawn people off with call-centre support; after all, the reason to pay more is partly the expectation that you are going to get good support. If I want to hear a minimum-wage moron read from a script, I'll go to McDonald's!
