Post by iaingub »

Hi guys
Dual G4 Mirror Doors 1.25G with no add ons. elemental audio sys plugs and reason.
Installed Tiger and DP crashes on pressing play.
Have gone through suggestions trash prefs/repair permissions. Looked for Ape (not on my machine).

See the other post.

It has to do with the dual CPU and core audio.

Try DP 4.0 and select single CPU and let us know what happens.

Only single CPU and powerbooks seem to be able to get it working right now.

OK, so Tiger/DP seems to work. Is there any compelling reason to upgrade at this point? Better performance, sound, anything? Or is it just about a bunch of OS bells and whistles for a whole lot of trouble?

At this point I'd say no, in the end, without a doubt yes. The underlying stuff in Tiger is soooo much better it's not funny. Once apps really start to take advantage of this things will be really kicking.

There is a lot more to Tiger than just bells and whistles.

I can't believe you guys are rushing into this Tiger thing. I mean give it at least a few months maybe 6 and then let's start talking about it.

FYI, Ars Technica has a detailed look at what's new in Tiger. He says it is overall much quicker and improved in many ways under the hood.
