DP 5.5 (Or 6.0?) Sit-In

Post by monkey man »

`
Well 'Cornies, Machy's on her way (Mach 5 II), and some of us already have the jitters.
Actually, it appears that Billy and I are the only two so far, but what the heck.
"What will we do once she arrives?", we asked.
I answered with this thread; hopefully it will allow us a peaceful, fun place to pull up a chair and speculate, something we seem to excell at.
OK, maybe we're not so good at it, but that's never stopped us before...

I'll fling the first poo ball and say she's on her way, and that she'll be the intermediate step between where we are now and where we'll be at version 6.0.

Those requiring food won't have long to wait, assuming the hobbit arrives on cue with the first buffet.
Now, all we need is some beer... :?

Beer here-- reporting for duty.

Honestly MM, I'm spec'd out at the moment. Stability is always at the top of the list. One thing's for sure-- I'd rather not sit through four decimal points before getting something more solid.

But, I'm willing to sit in since I've grown weary of watching my mailbox or various websites for vaporware.

Yay! Fwoggy delivers!
Dang, and you remembered the buffet, too - double yay!
Let's see how bloated we can get before Gorilla-Boy arrives; I've seen him devour a house.

I'm not surprised, Flapster. [Monkey spills thousand island dressing on Flipper's floppers; something that's not at all difficult to do.]

I mean, how can you win if you're required to be at the "cutting edge", but dwelling there inevitably means gettin' your ass chopped?
I'd still love to see you settle into a keeper version of DP on a keeper OS version with, um, keeper VIs.
Vapourware, indeed; I'll bet the XV's still puffin' along, eh?

LOL. At least MOTU'll have Machy II or even possibly (touch wood!) III runnin' like butter in a frying pan by then. :?

Whoa... is that fried banana I see over yonder?

Well there is nothing else, at least 'till DP 5.5 arrives.

Oh, that is if you don't count the three B's - beers, bananas and buffets.

I haven't had a tinnie of the amber nectar in a long time.

best not now, it's only 9:30 am. People will talk.

Although beer is so much more than just a breakfast drink I always say.

Me too, not since before '95.
Doesn't matter though... this is a sit-in in the ether!

Too late for that - once you've been spotted with the monkey and Buffet-Buster over there, you'll likely never be taken seriously again.

Yeah, with all those calories, it is breakfast.

I won't be able to resist, I can assure you.
They're bound to spontaneously appear.

I'm tempted to save my own chanting energy for the DP 6.0 sit-in, as it'll likely be a more significant update.

Pig out and 'ave a beer, simonr; once you're bloated you won't care. :D
Prepare for a sore bum too, as we may just be here for a while...

monkey man, I predict this is going to be a busy software season. M52, Logic 8, and a new version on DP (I'll venture out on the banana tree limb with you and say DP6).

What we shall do when she arrives, I predict we will at first love it, claiming that it is "snappier" than DP 5.12. The next phase is disillusionment, which occurs when we discover that one esoteric feature, which each of will claim is a "deal breaker" is missing. Finally, we will settle in with our new software, make amends, and then return to the discussions of "where's DP7"?

I'm going to guess that DP5.5 or 6 still won't have usable MIDI regions and that Cubase defectors will keep asking where they are.
