PS I do have x.8 backed as well, up just in case.
Hey thanks for that. I'm thinking of cloning my system and installing x.4.x on a partition. I might take the plunge this weekend. Wish me luck.

Good luck Phil! Since your asking for luck though, I'll assume your not entirely comfy with the procedure... no luck needed. It's real easy with a mac. Just make a new partition with disc utility and use carbon copy cloner (there is another one as well ???...) this one works for me. After the copy is complete, reboot, hold the option key and you'll see the boot menu with your new copy. Thats it, takes like 15 mins (depending how much on your os drive...) and you can boot and work in either os or just save it as a back up. Repeat procedure for more back ups... best to plan out how many incremental back ups you'd like, set up your partitions and copy away. I couldn't believe how easy it was compared to setting a dual boot pc, and how the boot manager automatically sees new bootable partitions. Sweetness!
Regards, Rob

Oh.. and good luck with x4x (if that's what you meant...lol)

Yeah, I've done the clone thing a thousand times before. It's the new operating system I need luck with. It's that venture into new OS territory that scares me.

Thanks
Phil

Well so far, everything's running smoothly. Been running x.4.xv1.1 for a couple of days now and NO crashes. Keepin' my fingers crossed.

Phil

ps That sounds kinda cool doesn't it? x4xv1.1

Does it go to 11? If Apple brings out OS 10.4.11, we will be calling it the "Spinal Tap Edition".

I don't know if this will be useful to anyone at all, considering that it concerns the built-in audio hardware, but it was interesting to me, and I wondered if it might be applied to MOTU hardware somehow -- maybe change sample rates back and forth?
