Let me clarify...

I would like to retain all the benefits of audible mode. I would just like MIDI SCRUBBING as a separate button so that every time I *rewind* or *drag the wiper* I don't get BLASTED by a CACOPHONY of MIDI NOTES.

Thank you.

How did I know you'd poke your head in here, Magilla?
You're insatiable.

Now that Speedster doesn't appear to be going UB, I'd love the varispeed audio thing too, ideally available as a plug-in comprising, say, tempo and pitch sliders and a quality parameter.
Easy, peasy.

Failing MOTU's implementing this, can anyone here run this thing through X-Code and spit out a UB version at the other end? :?

Hey everybody,

I am just preparing a lengthy list of wishes which I will soon post here and will also sent to MOTU.

Most of my wishes are just slight enhancements to existing features, but one of my main New Feature requests is TAKE FOLDERS. And several months back, someone in some thread included a link to a product video where one of the competitor DAWs was demonstrating their new Take Folders feature. The video showed in great detail how this would work, and I remember salivating at the site of it.

I wanted to include a link to this video for the MOTU development team (and for all of you) to look at, but I cannot for the life of me remember which DAW it was... and so cannot find that video. Does anyone remember which DAW it was? It was not Logic or ProTools.

If I remember correctly, Cubase VST used to do that. I think that they took it out of SX/SL though. It might have gotten added back in since the last time that I used it(SL1).

While I'm here as might as well add my little bit.

As I was looking through Cubase SL1 to make sure that it didn't have track folders, I did remember what good contextual menu support it has. I would love to see that in DP. I used to love being able to set audio regions or create tracks by control clicking and not having to go to menus, a different part of the window, or remember key commands with awkward reaches. I don't see it happening though since DP uses the control key for so many weird little things.

I'm not sure how they contextual menus work in Cubase, but if a control-mouseclick on a selected item is all that is required, then MOTU should be able to add that feature. I like it! :P

Thanks for the Cubase recollection. I thought it was Cubase, but I still can't find that video.
I did, however, find a screen capture of how the Take Folders would work:

Image

Essentially you open your tracks take folder and you can see all the takes in a track. And then, as you determine which sections sound best within each take, a selection tool would allow you to designate the sections of each take to play during each section of the song. Selecting a section on one take would disable selections on alternate takes.

Here's a CB contextual menu screenshot. I should have picked a better project, but I think you'll get the idea. If you have layered files(which you can see in the arrangement), then those would show up in the contextual menus as well.

I'm not advocating that MOTU turn DP into Cubase. I just think that they could borrow a few things.

And if they have to make a commando raid, I'll be happy to look the other way and deny that they were in any way involved in the incident.

Me too. :D

DP's been copied much over the years, after all.

I love it! If this was set up properly, I can imagine a whole new world of efficiency. :)
So much quicker to have things just a control click away (e.g. favorite Audio Plugins, Region functions, etc.)

Yep, some things that I was surprised NOT to find in DP.
