Mixing 4 channels into 1

Post by Trachnyne »

I have 4 mono tracks of claps, and i'd like to combine them into 1 stereo track. The 4 mono tracks are panned 2 hard left/right, and 2 somewhere in the middle. Is it possible to combine those 4 tracks down to one stereo track and keep the pans?

I always thought claps were best kept in the mono realm?

I mixed them down to one stereo track and it sounds fine. :)

cool, i'll have to try it. I never really bothered to consider placing a clap along so many points in the stereo spectrum. But you can (or at least me) always learn something new. 8)

maybe I never had it to begin with so there might not be anything to "get with......."

The clap - I can see the purpose I s'pose; every bacteria deserves its day in the sun.

The quad clap - I fail to see the point; aren't you opening yourself up to phase issues?

No, it looks painful reading about it on paper!

I suppose you could mic a clap like a drum set. 2 close mic'd overheads and then 2 room mics to give it ambience.
