Millenia STT-1 Origin
I was wondering if anyone is using this chanel strip...I read great reviews about it.
The other thing is...I'm using Traveler as my main interface so I was wondering if the combination of Origin stt1 and Traveler clocked to the Apogee's BigBen would be a good combination?

i use the origin all the time...incredible strip...extremely versatile...also use a traveler...mine's BLA modded...opinions vary on external clocks, but i wouldn't worry about the big ben, unless ya got a bunch of digital gear that needs to be locked...if ya wanna hear my origin, I used it to record vocals on my record last summer...male and female rock, R&B,reggae, and even rap...check it out at:

Go to www.da7.com and do a search for this pre. Nick Batszdorph (sp?) has the Millennia Origin and tells how he sold all of his other pres to buy two of them. He has the tubes switched for another type (telefunkken) I think and loves the sound.

Mics - you didn't say what you would be recording but ...
A large diaphram condenser mic is great for vocals. I use a Soundelux U - 95 and it is very good, pricey but good. I have a small diaphram Neumann KM 84 - the older one - which is great for acoustics and lots of other things. You need a condenser to capture the top end of things.

If you're looking for just the preamp of it (and not the rest of the strip) and have some basic soldering skills/electronics knowledge you can make a clonish version for $149 from Tim at www.seventhcircleaudio.com
It is the C84 kit (or you can buy it ordered).
I plan to make one in the next year or so. I have made their Neve clone and it was super easy (and I have fairly elementary knowledge of electronics).
Don't mean to sound like an add - but it's a good deal. You might want to consider your own chassis and power supply and you would be able to make at least a single channel for around $300 two channels for $450.
