Also the meters on the LM hardware are showing the pre delay-compensation levels. So they're about two seconds ahead of what I'm actually hearing. ...anyone else have the same experience?
I have my buffer at 256 and LM's Minimum Latency at 264
Are you on DP 5.x? Did you remember to check "always run in real-time" for each instance of Liquid Mix you have in your mix? This is very important.
I'm running LM in DP 4.61 (which doesn't have the offline processing feature that DP 5 does). LM runs without a hitch on my system. No delay/pre-delay problems.
As far as renaming the presets to something you can remember - yes, there is an easy way to do that. Load up each compressor, and save it as a User preset with the "real" hardware name. Just have the printout reference list nearby. Do the same thing for the EQ's.
Today the the play-delay seems to be gone. ....maybe it just needed an old fashion restart.
Good (if not obvious!) idea, creating correctly named presets. Is there an easy way to save and load compressors and eqs separately or do I have to navigate through Snapshot library and choose "Load Comp or EQ Only"?

I think Focusrite does recommend using LM on a separate firewire buss but I have used it number three in a firewire chain without any problems.

Thanks!
Don't load the comps and eq's from the snapshot library - just load either one as an emulation. The sanpshots are presets, created from the emulations.
On the compressor side of the GUI, top left you should see a field marked "emulation". You click on the field and you get a drop down list of the list of compressors. Ditto for the right side of the GUI, which is the EQ's - click on the "emulation" field and you get a drop-down list of the EQ's.

I have a MOTU 828 mkII FW and a Focusrite Saffire Pro 26 ahead of the LM.
I did once try it through a newertech hard drive/hub combo connected from a second buss via a generic pc express 34 card (2FW 1USB) with less success: but I was having driver problems with the Saffire at the time.
While I disagree with what the other guys were saying about running the LM in a chain I do think if you have a MBP you should get an express 34 card regardless. I run the external HD off that second buss.
More to the point, the LM is so good, if you're considering it you probably need it; buy it and you won't be disappointed.
