I love my iMac!!!! 30 audio tracks with plugs, and no VI's - not a problem. Very typical of my projects. But ...
- get the faster CPU - the 2.33
- get plenty of RAM. 2 gig minimum, 3 gigs better
- budget for a good external firewire drive
- accept that by the time you get the faster CPU, more RAM, and a great external drive, you'll have spent a MacPro worth of cash

Maybe so, but with a Mac Pro you'd still need the extra RAM and another internal hard drive. Plus, you'd have to get an external monitor if you don't already have one.- accept that by the time you get the faster CPU, more RAM, and a great external drive, you'll have spent a MacPro worth of cash
I'm waiting for the next generation imac to take the plunge. Getting by with the Powerbook G4 for now, but I have always thought it was kind of wimpy for DP. I wasn't too impressed with my wife's imac G5 either, so hopefully the next generation imac will be the right mix of performance vs cost. Would love a Mac Pro, but can't justify it for my home projects.
