Here's exactly what they told me

Post by samueltournan »

Samuel,
Here's the mail I received a few days ago...I think maybe Leopard being late is the reason why we haven't got any clue about the release date...Let's wait for september.
Thank you for your interest in MachFive version 2.
Despite any rumors you may have heard, no release date has been set for MachFive 2, though it is currently a high priority development project here at MOTU. We are anticipating support for Intel Macs, Windows Vista, and Windows XP64 machines. All further information, including a full feature list, upgrade pricing, and release date, will be posted to www.motu.com when it is available.

Regards,
Nicholas

I doubt Leopard has *that much* to do with it at this point.

Scenarios:

1. Had Leopard been released by now, not every Mac/MachFive user would have Leopard

2. M5v2 would still be Tiger-compatible and Universal Binary (wouldn't it?)

3. Even if there were incomplete Leopard coding in the current build of M5v2, MOTU could easily recommend that the current build not be used in Leopard and release a maintenence update later for official Leopard optimization, should that be needed.

4. Leopard's release will do little for many users to avoid the temptation of installing apps before they are announced as being officially Leopard-comptible . Despite announcements to the contrary, many users installed M5v1.x on their Intel machines anyway.

The only thing we know for sure is that we don't "really" know why Leopard is so late, although numerous convincing guesses have been made.

One thing's for sure: I wouldn't want to play Poker with anyone from MOTU. They playing their cards very close to the breast.

That was back in 1998-- or 1998. I can't remember which.

Very appropriate.

Terry changed my life in '76, musically and personally. Russ Ferrantes, Randy Kerber and David Garfield were all studying with Terry at the time. L.A. was good.
It took 5 years of 3 1/2 hrs. a day or more after I met Terry to start to learn how to play piano.

Another clue

Post by samueltournan »

A guy on a french forum wrote to UMD (the team working on M5 V2) and somebody answered. Though the answer isn't nice at all (the guy at UMD maybe in a bad mood) the "july 13th" release date has been given once again.

Maybe MOTU is waiting for them to confirm the work is done before allowing the MOTU website to release the news...PFFFFF!!!

I really hope July 13th is indeed the date. The development process certainly could not have been entirely pleasant for UMD or MOTU over the past 2.5 years.

May this be the beginning of the end of a very long wait!

Obviously referring to the French schedule (13th) for Sassoon to liberate Iran...

I also noticed his absence lo these few days. It's not like him to stay quiet for this long. Not a grunt, not a poo.

I'm worried and will email him.

Very cool, maybe it's because the New Zealanders were doing well in the Americas Cup.
