PooManchu. Love it, Billy!

Actually, I think it prudent to hand over to garymadi whilst he's in medicated mode and entering from left of field.
Eunuchs and Unicorns, may I present.... garymadi! :D

FWIW, I anticipated all along, and still expect MOTU to slay all comers with Machy. :D

Fwoa... there's another one loose in the paddock.

Quick, 'Cornies, slip your rubber gloves on, tie your underwear around your heads and follow me.
We're sitting this one out in the sauna.

Must... eliminate... Hunter Thompsonesque... poisons... :?

EDIT: Garymadi had posted an incredible assortment of disparate, temporally-challenging thoughts, only to erase them 4 days later.
Pity; it (the post) was way out there...

Hell hath no fury like a V2 scorned.....

Well, we all know what happened to Hunter Thompson. He offed himself waiting for MachFive v2.... poor sod. He just couldn't hold out anymore....
If its not released in July, then let's all follow his example....Jonestown anyone? Here my dear, a cup of KoolAid for your MachFive woes.... I heard Anna Nicole just gave up too, because she got tired of waiting for that true love, that box of V2 to make her life full of meaning.....and Paris Hilton....baby, don't get me started.

Motu, please update your website to satisfy we who are too eager...and have a hellish dark bent.

I've only read the book and not seen the movie, and it was perhaps 20 years ago, but three images always come to mind:
The desert trip into Vegas; I used to imagine being the hitcher.
The 90lbs tyre pressure he inflicted on the hire-cars to facilitate the squeals.
The pool room scene where he noticed steam emanating from the tables and everyone turned into reptiles.

Strange how there's a trippy bent in so many threads this week.

Come on Machy, you K2 killer you. :D

I have received two messages from MOTU recently indicating that my file does indeed reflect my eligibility for the free upgrade.

The message ended with: "This version is currently a high priority development project here at MOTU. We are anticipating support for Intel Macs, Windows Vista, and Windows XP64 machines. All further information, including a full feature list, upgrade pricing, and release date, will be posted to www.motu.com when it is available."

It's so close I can smell it!!!

Sulfur containing compounds and inorganic hydrogen sulfide: Dis-stink-tive :!:

Call me a fool, but I think now is the time :!: Mach 5 will appear this summer.

Who knows WTF happened behind closed doors?

Look at Apple and that ridiculous iPhone. (I hate cell phones.). They pooled all of their resources into the design of this cash bovine. Development of Leopard was put on the back burner in the meantime.

But........................................................................, if they don't come through by late summer.........................................., then yes, call me a fool :!:

Then there's the old adage: ".. and this time, I mean it!" :P

I know we're looking at 3 weeks after over 2.5 years of waiting, but it's almost like waving raw meat in front of a hungry lion.

I'll feel a lot better when MOTU actually puts something on their site. I know, I've said this before but I don't think I can handle another cruel teaser if M5V2 is delayed again. The month of June suddenly feels longer than all of 2006.

Well, if today's "news" is any indication, the release of MachFive Ver 2 may actually be in September.

DP 5.12 was "released" the beginning of May but announced as "shipping" today, about 7 weeks later. So if MachFive V2 is "released" as promised on July 13, it might actually "start shipping" around Sept. 1. Or perhaps that is when they start taking pre-orders in order to be compatible with Leopard when it arrives in what? Oct.?

We're not supposed to talk politics, so I won't make any political comparisons (and I tell, this rule is KILLING ME!) But it's sort of like promising a kid that he can drive the car when he grows up, yet you always determine his is too immature and hasn't grown up "enough" yet.

What all this boils down to is bad marketing and a marketing strategy that was over zealous in its claims and cannot admit when it is wrong. Well there, I've come too close to politics now! (But I do feel better :) )

It seems in part (at least) that MOTU got hung by everyone from Apple to whomever was putting M5 together with OS and chip changes-- not to just make things compatible for a different architecture, but two separate Mac CPUs in one universal binary code (not to mention various PC OS compatibility expectations).

Remember when Steve Jobs was talking about the G5 chip breaking the 3G barrier back then? Then what happened? A stealthier 970? Nope. Whole new chip. Two of them-- no Four of them-- hey wait--- EIGHT of them in a cluster!

Who knew "what when" is probably less significant than what could have been complications too deep and twisted to have been foreseen before any marketing blurb might have appeared. It doesn't take much before you've found you've put your entire hoof down your own throat.

How do you unscramble an egg?

I'm not really trying to speak in anyone's defense at this point-- but I do feel badly for everyone from MOTU down to their customers. It's no better to get caught in the middle than it is to get caught at the bottom.

I was just about to sell my "old" M5 v1, as i moved from a G4 to a Mac Pro several months ago... I thought M5 was purely abandonned, but then i saw this post...

Why does it take so long to appear (if it really will)? Is it because of Vista (concurent releases)?

UMD in France (official distributor of many MOTU products) just had no clue...

Damned, i just hope it would load all my old soundbanks that i have spent so many days making.

I just don't care about the GB soundbanks it comes with, i just want an intel release, and if possible, stable, and that works with DP (of course) and Pro Tools 7 (multiple outputs)...

Bye.
