Anyone using Alesis Control Pad?
I know these are relatively new, but they look like a viable input device. Any experience?
i just purchased one, i have BFD and reason seems really cool trying to find better triggers for the kick and snare thats better than the ones offered by alesis.
Macbook Pro 15" SR 2.4ghz 2g ram , FirmTek SeriTek/2SM2-E dual-bay hot swap sata drive enclosure, JBL 4206 & Mackie HR824, MOTU 2408 mkII, Mackie Onyx 400f, Rode NTK, MOTU MTPAV, OS 10.4.10, DP 5.13, Reason 4.0, Rob Papen Predator & Albino 3, Ozone 3,BFD v1.5, Roland xp-80, EMU e6400 ultra, Alesis ControlPad, Akai MPK49
guess i shouldnt have said better, i meant the alesis offerings look really generic. alternatemode.com has a selection of triggers and pedals for electronic drums but ive read nothing about compatibility with the controlpad. the alesis manual seems to imply that other triggers or pedals should work. im still doing research to be certain.

I talked to tech support at Alesis today-they tell me that any trigger will work in the pad expansion inputs but only a footswitch (like a keyboard sustain pedal;non-CCV) will work into the dedicated BD / HH inputs and no velocity from those two (BD/HH). I'm looking into the Yamaha kick & HH controllers to plug into the pad jacks:

when you mean no velocity, you you the kick will only output a max volume of 127? i think it would have been better to get the alesis trigger i/o and piece together pads. i cant imagine a kick with no velocity or having to go back and edit all of your kick velocities.

i think u would be better off getting a Roland TMC-6 all trigger inputs respond to velocity and u can use roland dual zone pads and ccv for the hithat instead of hihat on/off like the alesis. its a bit more expensive but not by much. i think i will try to return this controlpad.

According to Alesis, a bass drum trigger plugged into one of the expansion inputs will behave just as any other pad-velocity, etc. But a pedal plugged into the dedicated Bass drum input would have no velocity control-ie full on. In addition, you can ONLY use a keyboard type sustain pedal for either of the dedicated inputs (BD/HH) which is not so so bad for the hi-hat as you'll get your velocity from the pad itself.
thats good to know what kind of bass drum trigger are you planing on getting
