Is there a native eq similar to MW EQ?

Post by ryst »

Unfortunately, I had to recently switch back over to PT as my main sequencer because of the work I was getting so I don't get to use DP as much as before. The one thing I cannot seem to find is a replacement for the MW EQ. And although I love the way it sounds, it's not the sound that i am looking for....it's the FET display!!!!!!

I love it. It's so clear to me. Much better than anything from Waves or Elemental Audio. The display of the frequencies is perfect. It really helps me when i need to cut somethings that I don't like. Yet I cannot find another plug-in that is as clear as the MW EQ. Is there one? Right now the only thing that comes remotely close is the Sonalksis SV-517.

Any other suggestions?

I highly suggest the Sonalksis eq. Imho, it's one of the best eq plugs out there. I prefer it over all my waves eq's, SSL, Ren, Linear Phase, Q10. And yes it does have it's own FET display. And they're very light on the CPU. But sonalksis plugs are pretty costly though.

Speaking of MWEQ, it has to be one of the sexiest looking plugs around. :P

Goodluck.

For others reading this thread, and not the original poster who probably already knows this, the Sonnox (formerly Sony Oxford) EQ is available in native format and is more or less what MasterWorks EQ is patterned after. But it does not include the FET display.

I was just looking at one the other day that includes an FET display, but I've been evaluating so many plugs of late that I've lost track. If I see it in my notes I'll add it later.

I was never able to get the Sonalksis demos to run when IK tried them last year, so gave up. But maybe it's time to give them another try. Now that I do my mastering in BIAS Peak Pro instead of Digital Performer, I need a mastering EQ to replace MOTU MasterWorks EQ (which I use in tracking and on submix stems).

Try UAD-1 Precision EQ.

What Tim said. Fast Fourier Transform. Fet sounds kinda cheesy. ;)

Haha, that's what I get for copying what someone else posted without double-checking it first.

From my background, FET means "Finite Element Transform". I used to make my living doing that sort of thing :-).
