Cannot monitor audio tracks

Post by ongbundt »

Hi,
DP 4.6.1
OSX 10.3.9
Powermac dual 2.0 (PPC)

1. Audio tracks are not monitoring (either with sound or showing levels) any incoming audio, whether the track is record-enabled or not. But I can record a track (in complete silence) and then hear the playback see the waveform and meters working.
I tried every possible combination of settings in the "input monitoring" window, no effect.

I seem to be able to monitor audio if i create a seperate aux track for the same input, but that's ridiculous. All my audio tracks are going to the main outs, and in DP 5 this isn't a problem. In DP 5 I just record-enable a track and I can hear it coming through DP and see levels as I should.

2. Also, DP doesn't seem to be overriding my audio interface's direct hardware monitoring. So, i have a keyboard plugged in and everythime I play a note i can hear it, but it's not coming through DP just the interface (even though I have "Monitor audio through effects" selected, which I thought (like in Loigc) would "cut" the hardware signal and process everything through DP instead.

Any thoughts on either problem would be greatly appreciated!

is there no way in DP 4 to simply monitor an audio track without recording on to it (like you can in DP5 by enaling the track's "input" monitor button)? If not, I'll just go with aux tracks to do this.
