Playback over Laptop speakers

Post by DeafMute »

This may sound quite odd, but does anybody know if i can playback my Traveler's main outs through my macbook speakers?

To me it seems quite logical. lf I'm doing field recording, I wouldn't want to carry a pair of speakers with me, I'd also avoid using headphones if i wanted to share the recordings with a group.

The only thing i can think of, is to route the main outs and plug them straight into the macbooks input (the microphone input) I haven't tried this yet, since it seems rather scary.

I'm running a Traveler witha Macbook Pro and DP 5.1.

Any suggestions?
Thanks

Just set your "Default Output" to "Built-in Audio" on the Audio MIDI Setup utility. I use Audio MIDI setup so often that I keep it on my dock.

Thanks cuttime, even though that was my first guess, i did it again as per your suggestion and i still can't hear a thing. Would i have to change any setting within my Traveler?

I changed both (separately) my Default and my System outputs.

Cheers

Leave the system audio on "Traveler", and make sure that the DP playback bundle is set to "Built-In Audio".

This worked indirectly. By not plugging in my Traveler, I got the pop-up, when starting up DP, to set up the I/O‘s, I chose built-in, and there it was...

Thanks cuttime

You can leave the Traveler plugged in, just select Built In Audio from the Hardware Driver window.

I guess i wasn't clear enough. I figured it out when I did not plug the Traveler , and i was ale to take it from there on to plugging it and getting playback over my Traveler outs and my Mac speakers.

Thanks!
