828mkII/896HD Sonar6 xp64 sync

Post by srslab »

First the hardware specs...

Asus A8N SLI Premium
AMD 64 3200
2GB Mushkin PC3200 2-2-2
2x160GB Sata 3gb OS/APP
2x320GB Sata 3gb Music Storage
Firewire is the builtin plus I purchased an additional card for bandwidth due to having problems previously..however those were fixed at a later time.

828mkII
896HD
MTP AV

so...at one point I did it have it working where I could use both interfaces at 24/96 and life was good. This took several months to get working and at one point moved my entire studio in to storage. Once i took it out of storage for the new room i cannot get both units to work at the same time. As soon as I turn on the 2nd interface (other MoTU) the sync on that device flashes such as the 896HD will flash the 88 and 96 lights back and forth. Trying to go in to the MoTU audio setup runs very slow and several of the options flash slowly as it seems to be trying to sync the two devices but not successfull.

I have the two devices daisy chained which worked before but now just trying to figure out a stable way of setting this all up. I do have the MTP AV but for general audio recording don't see that I would need to sync both devices with that.

I'm guessing i'm missing something simple as this use to work and i could use all of the interfaces under Sonar. It would be nice to be able to use the 896HD in 192 mode and the 828mkII in 96 mode and just apply the proper inputs to the bitrate required. I believe the new Sonar will allow you to have different bit rate wav files in the same project however all 24/96 is fine as I just want to be able to have 16 TRS inputs at once or more of 8 TRS inputs on the 828mkII and the 5.1 mix going to the outputs on the 896HD.

I have searched through the sync postings as I believe that is how i resolved the problem before however I can't seem to find any information that would help.
