Mach 5 stopped working after system re-install
I am running DP 5.12 and Mach 5 1.2.3-- for various reasons, i had to do a clean install of my OS (10.4.9) and now the Mach 5 boots in DP, but the instruments do not appear accessable in the device itself. I have re-selected the library and re-nstalled everyting twice, to no avail. Then, when i try to select audio outputs for the Mach 5 , DP crashes- can anyone help?
Hmm. I'm convinced there's something truly wonky with the v1.2.3 installer.
Try this (from another thread):
Go to:
Macintosh HD> Library> Audio> Plugins> MAS (folder).
Look for the MachFive '.bundle' file. Toss that- (trash).
If you have the AU version installed, go to
Macintosh HD> Library> Audio> Plugins> Components (folder) and toss the MachFive '.component' file as well.
You might want to use your Finder or Spotlight to make sure that you do not have any duplicates of these files hiding somewhere on your hard drive. If you find any duplicates, delete those, too.
Toss your Audio Unit Info file located:
User Library> Preferences> Digital Performer (folder).
Don't uninstall MachFive itself (at least for now).
Reinstall MachFive version 1.2.3 as though you'd never installed it before. Fresh copies of your '.bundle' and '.component' will be placed in their proper locations.
Repair permissions after install.
Shut down the computer completely for several minutes (5 should do it) and boot everything back up.

I have had a similar problem - I updated from 10.3.9 to 10.4.8 using DP 4.61 and when I launched DP it hung when loading the MachFive bundle (v 1.2.3) - I uninstalled and this then happened with MX4 (v 2.0) - I uninstalled MX4 and DP launched fine. [Also, I before I uninstalled M5 and MX4 I followed a MOTU tech note and removed 4.61 and re-installed it - just the application].
I then re-installed M5 from the CD and no change. Still hangs on DP launch. I synced my ilok, as well, and this didn't help either.
Any suggestioins? I am at a loss and it appears I just have to call Tech Support next week unless you are able to help - thanks!!!

Thanks - I tried the step above and it didn't work. I created a "Tech Link" w/ MOTU a week ago and did not hear back so called last Friday - here's the update since then:
"UPDATE: I called and spoke with Rich in Tech Support on Friday - I wasn't able to call while at my computer, though I explained to Rich the troubleshooting steps I had taken already. He suggested I try to create a new profile, re-install 1.2.3, verify the version of the bundle and see if that worked. I performed all steps and it did not work under the new profile.
So, back to square one (and note all other pluggins are working fine).
What do you suggest next? Current status - MachFive and MX4 are uninstalled as they did not allow DP to open. DP works fine now that they are unistalled again.
Thanks!"
Any other suggestions from UnicorNation? Thank you!!!

Dear MOTU Tech Support - rather than re-create a description of the problem, I used a recent thread I joined to solve this problem (to no avail) - please advise - thank you!

When you first open your hard drive, do you see a folder called previous System folder?

No, no "Previous System Folder" [are you getting at what type of OS upgrade I did?] - thanks for your response - I am looking forward to resolving this!

Does this happen in all of your projects? If you create a new empty project and add one Mach Five instrument track and one MIDI track to control it, do you still get the same issue?

It happens when DP is starting up so won't even allow me to get to a project - application jsut hangs once the bundle starts to load - I get the rotating beach ball...

Have you tried performing a search for MachFive MAS.bundle to make sure that there are no older versions of Mach Five somewhere else on your hard drive?

Yes - here's the latest:
On 8/31, I called an spoke with Ronan, Rich, Matt, and Charles (in that order) - each analyst had me try something different (and call back if it didn't work, hence the four phone calls) - we tried removing all versions of MachFive MAS.bundle and ensure just 1.2.3 is installed, unmounting other partitionsthat might have M5, repairing permissions, checking the installation, upgrading to 10.4.10, etc. It appeared the installation was not working properly so Charles sent me an installation disk - I tried this on Friday and things installed in the proper places, though DP still hung on launch. I upgraded to DP 5.12 since then and M5 does launch in DP 5.12, though still does note with 4.61. Charles then suggested I re-install DP 4.61 as I was still concerned about M5 not working with 4.6 - I tried this and still no luck - DP hangs on launch at the loading of MachFive MAS.bundle. Any other suggestions? I am still unclear why this is not working and just want to make sure there is nothing wrong with my system.
