Recording MIDI tracks to an audio track...

here is my problem.. the MIDI tracks have applesoftware synth as outputs and the audio track i want to record them on doesnt give me an input possibility...

my master fader track is going out on built in output...

i can see the light grey built in output in the pop up window of the input on the audio track but i cant select it!

what do i do to get my MIDI tracks into audio? anyone?

Hi

Since I don't know which version of DP you have.
Read about Virtual Instrument Plug-ins in your DP manual.

I just fooled around with this the other day. It depends on what audio interface you have and whether it will let you route an audio output back to an audio input.

Here's one simple way to do it old school style...

-In Audio MIDI setup, set the default audio out to an output you won't be using in DP

-Set up the Apple Software synth in DP (in the Interapplication MIDI setup)

-Run patch leads from the output you set in step one to two (stereo) inputs on your audio interface.

-Record onto an audio track set to that input.

If someone else knows how to do it without having to go out and back in, please chime in.

thanks, that seemed to be good advice andf i will definately go back to this information once i GET an interface! i don't have an interface yet! but im sure i"ve done this while fooling around with it the first time i opened DP! I know its possible I just wont get the option to choose the input on that audio track...
well I do get options... just the buses!
