Would a 2408mk2 have better A/D than a cheap, modern FX box?

Would a 2408mk2 have better A/D than a cheap, modern FX box?

I want to use it as a standalone A/D to connect my hardware synths to my Metric Halo ULN-2, via SPDIF.

Thought I could buy a new, lower end TC or Lexicon FX box to do the trick instead, IF the A/D conversion on them would be significantly better than the 2408mk2 A/D.

Anyone have a thought on it?
