Quantize issues in DP 4.6
So, at the urging of a friend who is quite annoyed by my purist ways I decided to try to tighten up one of my tunes using the Quantizing abilities of DP. The Quantize option works awesomely for aligning my bass part to the drums, but I get this hideous artifact that occurs sporadically during the sustains and sometimes at the end of notes. If this is the way the tool works I will never be able to actually use it.
The manual talks about quantizing as if it is a real time effect applied during playback. Is this true? I feel that it might explain why my track sounds so horrible after quantizing. Otherwise, what gives?
I have tried changing the sensitivity of the beat detection engine and so on. I have also gone through and deleted all false beats and beats that are located on the release. I assumed that DP would execute a smooth time stretch between each of the attacks this way, but it still did the same thing.
Any advise on how to make this work would help greatly.

Ok, so I think I have a more detailed description of what this contraption is doing. I'm fairly consistent with my bass playing so really DP just shifts most of the track a little to the right, but there are some beats that it thought needed to be pulled earlier in the sequence. It appears that any time there is a time stretch in the quantize it is misdone. I would characterize what I'm hearing as jitter. Its really very strange.
I decided to try this in a different track as I figured maybe the issue was that a 44.1 khz file couldn't be time stretched, but even with the 88.2khz file the result of the quantize was bad. Here is an example of a guitar track before and after quantize. The arttifacts are very clear and abundant here. Let me know what you think.

P.S. - I downloaded the trial version of Ableton Live and tried quantizing inside that app with the same problem. Am I doing something wrong?

You will get better results if you add Effects after quantizing.
