problem saving effects changes in file browser in machfive

When I am using a mini general MIDI preset, such as trombone, shipped with MachFive, the performance and soundbank sections in the browser show as they should with their respective commands underneath, the
file browser does not show the (new, save p, etc.) commands under the preset section in the file browser. The sample section of the browser does not show at all. I am trying to save changes in effects to that preset and don't know what direction to go with out those options showing up in the browser. what is happening here. I know it is rarely the case....probably something simple ...stupid? What can I do to save a simple effects changes to a project in m-5

The MINI GM bank is a .DAT file. As it mentions in the manual, you can load presets from .DAT files but you can't save changes to them.
