Waves is workin' GREAT with the IntelMac (5.9) version!!!!!

Post by MegaDPuser »

Just wanted to report in that I downloaded the Intel Mac / 10.4.9 version of Waves tonight (version 5.9), and it is really working great. I had it working OK in 5.2 (nonIntel version) - buggy, a few crashes, and VERY VERY SLOW. The 5.9 set doesn't seem buggy and it is super-fast. In fact DP as a whole seems snappier with the new Waves download. Yea!

BTW, no iLok / authorization / desperate phone call to Waves hassle this one time. I downloaded 5.9, opened DP, all the AU's loaded, and everything's cool!

P.S. Haven't checked out the automation yet, which is where Waves 5.2 was having serious issues in 10.4.9. Will report on that later.

Did you use the Logic AU versions?

Yes, the Logic AU's. I've been using the Logic AUs in DP since I got the new iMac a month ago, and they're fine, even in the non-Intel and non-10.4.9 version for the most part. In their Intel-10.4.9 incarnation, they're working great (so far). In fact, I'm not sure I'm interested in doing another update even if Waves comes out with the DP version, because I don't see what it'd be doing that the Logic AU's aren't already doing. I'm from the "if it ain't broke" school, especially with Waves.

Is there something I'm missing here? V 5.9.1 came out before the release of OS 10.4.9 and when 10.4.9 came out, Waves said NOT to use it with Waves. Now they say it's compatible? Have they posted a compatible version with the same version number?

I just got my Mac Pro 2.66, I love the fast speed. DP is working great, no problems so far and I have alreaady done two sessions. All day and no crash, untill I loaded a Waves Tunelite on a vocal. It would not stop scrolling and crashed DP. All the others I have tried so far have worked fine except the Tune lite. I am still at 10.4.8, so maybe I need to upgrade to 10.4.9. I have the Waves Gold 5.9 AU installed.

Waves AU Tune Lite does the same thing on my PPC, endless scrolling even though DP transport is stopped, but once the transport is re-started, it syncs right up. No crashing on my G5. You could try turning off the scroll control on Tune Lite...

Thanks HCMarkus, I will try that and see how it is! I was on DP 4.5 before the upgrade and did not even think to try the Pitch Tune in DP until yesterday after I wrote my post here. I went back and tried it and wow!! I really like DP's tuning!!! I will move over to it probably as it has more functions than the lite version of Waves Tune. I still like waves tune and have not yet compared the two to see if one sounds better than the other??? Have you done that? or any one have a comment on the sound between the two?

Thanks

I have tried to install the Waves Gold Bundle for Logic several times but most of the AU's crashes the DP examination. I don't understad it after having read MegaDPuser's happy post. My tech-specs are almost identical. Any others with succes/failure/suggestions?
