I am having a problem with 96khz playback when 2 motu896hd's are connected via firewire. I was able to record 14 tracks @ 96khz successfully, but with occaisional difficulty, with this configuration, but playing them back will cause my two FW devices to lose sync. When recording, I have issues, but after starting and stopping a couple of time, then it will record multi-tracks ok. Sounds great, but playback loses ASIO buffers, and at the same time that buffers are lost the two FW devices (both Motu 896hd) lose sync with each other. Again, it runs smoothly at 44 or 48, but not at 96. With only one FW device connected, then 96 recording and playback are working fine.
I have followed the RME instructions for getting my Windows XP 1394 drivers to the SP1 versions that are recommended.
Have tried virtually every buffer setting available in ASIO driver.
I have turned off all non-essential background programs and services.
Have disabled 1394 networking.
Have checked and there is no IRQ sharing, or conflicts.
Hardware is AMD 64 2.4Ghz, 4 GB ram, Gigabyte mobo, 2 Motu 896hd using FW, 1394 chipset is TI.
Windows XP SP1, motu 3.6.7 ASIO driver.
Any suggestions are appreciated.
896hd's still losing sync at 96khz

That problem stopped for me when I disabled 1394 off of the network. Here is something to try. I run a short AES/EBU cable out of #2 into #1. It allows me to monitor #2 in my cuemix . I use #1's outs into my headphone amp but, it also clocks out of the AES/EBU port. That might help your clocking issues.
