Wait a minute -- is MachFive REALLY NOT INTEL USABLE?????

Post by barton1899 »

I just upgraded a ton of stuff onto my Intel MacPro. MachFive is not showing up as a potential Virtual Instrument..... and I'm turning pale at what I'm reading here.

Have I really got it straight that MachFive is NOT INTEL usable??????

I am speechless. And soundless.

I need an immediate solution..... will Kontakt 2 play all my MachFive stuff, laboriously assembled over the last few years?

I just don't believe it. Tell me I'm missing something.

Bad enough I've waited a zillion months for Garritan and EWQL -- I can't believe MOTU has screwed this up. Impossible.

Hey, uh, welcome to the forum. And yes, this isn't exactly new news that MachFive is not Intel compatible yet. Also, rather than start an brand new "MOTU screwed up thread" in the Mach Five forum you consider just joining in on some of the many pre-existing ones. :-)

So, now what....

Post by barton1899 »

Thanks for the welcome -- yeah, I was in such hysterical disbelief that I neglected to read down the list and see the other threads first. Never crossed my mind that the normally exemplary MOTU (or whoever is running MachFive development) was behind on Mac Intel...

Meanwhile -- what do you recommend.... the upshot around here seems to be to switch to Kontakt 2.2. I assume I'll have to re-import a zillion samples and patches that I had previously converted into the MachFive library? Whatever it takes to get moving... but wow.

Yep-- K2.2 is the way to go. Some are buzzing about Plugsound Pro, but I don't have it.

M5v2 is over two years behind, and it seems silly to hold out for it with no other recourse. I'll still go for M5v2 when it appears, but the "future" is arriving in uneven clumps presently.

Plugsound Pro

Post by barton1899 »

Plugsound Pro does not appear to do the main thing I used MachFive for -- converting legacy patches and samples (and just getting a lot of stuff under one roof).

Boy, MachFive was great -- and it SOUNDED great among its other advantages. Downloading the Kontakt Demo as we speak.

Yes, so I went ahead and bought K2, and it's great for importing the samples I need (from Gigastudio etc).

BUT, I can't seem to get multiple audio outputs. I did a search here at Unicornation and found some threads basically saying, I think, that DP won't do it. (BUt Mach 5 will. But Mach 5 isn't Intel and I have an Intel computer).

Aaargh.

Anyone here know how to get multiple audio outs from Kontakt into DP?

(Sorry if I missed it, but I did search and what I read seems to suggessts it's DP that won't play nice)

Is it something I'm missing? I just put MachFive through some paces using Rosetta, and had no major problems. All my PPC plugins worked fine but there must be something I've overlooked.... Hence all the frustration about M5v2. I shall start a new?? topic: Cons of using DP under Rosetta. I'm sure just getting M5 to work is a blessing......

How do you get Mach5 to run in Rosetta?

I don't believe you can because M5 doesn't run in standalone. Anything inside DP on a MacIntel must be UB to run.

Are you using K2 in standalone mode? I've not even tried this myself, but it would have to have native support for Rewire. I thought all of these standalone versions had that. Hmm.

It's been a while since I've used standalone mode (partially because it seemed more trouble than it was worth at the time) but I vaguely remember having to start the standalone version first to get it "online", then start DP afterwards before it appeared as an insert option.

I take it you found the Outputs Window in the navigation bar where outputs are assigned?

Have you tried running K2 inside DP (that is, if you are not already doing so)?

Use the Aux sends in Kontakt 2.2 for individual output of each instrument. There is a small aux button on the lower right corner of each instrument module. Select/click the button and the aux sends appear beneath the instrument. Levels are adjustable by sliders there. I think four aux sends is the default.

Hope this helps

I guess you could run Mach5 through RAX 1.x and get it to run under rosetta...

RAX --- or try AULab included with the OSX Developer apps.
