motu software and windows????
I know the software that is bundled with the ultralite and the higher models is for mac's. Do you think they may also include or develop a windows version too. That's about the only thing that is holding me back from getting one.

Unfortunately for you MOTU has always been MAC only interms of DAW. I don't think they are looking into changing that. There's on here about it. You should search for DP and Windows and you should find it.

I have been using the Ultralite for the last two weeks. My operating system is Windows XP SP2. I am using EastWest products (VSTi) and Drumcore 2.0 (re-wire) virtual instruments within Sonar. I am not having any problems. Although, when I purchased the Ultralite I made sure the firewire card was a TI chipset for a PCI slot. NOTE: The firewire card I purchased was the ADS Pyro PCI 64 3-port firewire card.
I have used over 45 tracks for an arrangment and I haven't had any problem/s. - Includes the effects and anti-virus ON.
Specs.
Windows XP SP2
Intel P4 3.06 MHz
RAM 4 GIG
1x SATA 80 GIG hard drive
1x SATA 120 GIG hard drive
1x USB 2.0 Extrernal hard drive (7200 RPM)
NVIDIA Quadro FX500 video card
EastWest Symphonic Orchestra Gold XP (VSTi)
EastWest Colossus (VSTi)
EastWest Stormdrums (VSTi)
Submersible Music - Drumcore 2.0 (Re-Wire)
Sonar 5.2
Steinberg wavelab
Finale 2006
I know this is probably a month too late, but hopefully this will help.

We use Windows XP (sp1) and Samplitude with Motu 896HD, and this has been a great sounding platform for us.
I realise that Samplitude is a large chunk of money compared to "included free" with the Motu unit, but the combination of the two (Motu and Samplitude) has been very good for us. MIDI capabilities in Samp 9.1 have also improved (although we're not heavy MIDI users at all) and you may not need to add an additional programs for this depending on how heavy a MIDI user you are.
We have had issues with using multiple 896HD's, but I'm sure they will eventually get worked out, most people who have had this problem have gotten it working eventually.
