I have been up almost all night playing around with Native Instruments Guitar Rig 2 demo...
it is really a great ampsimulator only thing is that it shuts down every 30 mins.

you can find it here: http://www.native-instruments.com/index ... arrig22_us

Wow - I've just tried the NI GR2 demo and very impressed.

I think the trick with guitar plugs must be to have several and switch plugs when you get bored of all your user tones in one plug. I'll probably like my PODXT a lot more again after a while...

Hmm I never liked PODxt but I haven't tried it very much... I'm my case I use the sounds for recording in a studio and not playing very much live... This is where I really like Guitar Rig and I think it sounds better for my genre of music than the pod...
but anyway everyone got different taste ;)

I have a quick question. I downloaded the demo to Guitar Rig 2 a few minutes ago. I was able to get it to play once I recorded my track, but I can't seem to be able to hear the preset before I actually record my track. I have it set up the following way: Gtr Track In is from my Analog 1, Gtr Track Out goes to Bus 1-2. Aux Track In from Bus 1-2, Aux Track Out to Mains 1-2. I hear my clean signal prior to and while recording, but no plug in effect. I do have the plugin loaded into the Aux Track Insert and it's not bypassed. Is there I way I can be able to hear my guitar and the different presets prior to and while recording? I hear the actual effect once I play back the track after recording my dry signal and I can switch presets this way to demo them, but it's just inconvenient.

Here are few more that haven't been mentioned yet:

--Izotope Trash
--IK Amplitude 2
--Waves GTR (which is what I have...doesn't have as much variety as the others listed...but I don't think you'll complain about the sound.)

--Dp's own amp plug. :P

Has anyone had any probs with the Guitar Rig 2 demo?

I installed yesterday and DP kept crashing during start up when loading the GR2 vst plug ..... so I trashed the vst plug and all was fine - it stopped crashing and I could use the AU version just fine.

Now today although GR2 (AU) seems to load doesn't show up at all as an option in the plug drop down list .... it was there sitting in my AU plugs folder... I tried reinstalling and also trashing the AU cache to force DP to examine all my plugs again (it was examined and passed).

The stand alone seems to work OK though.... (apart from once where it started squeaking with massive CPU spikes - but I had BFD running as well in DP as well as a few other apps all at 128 buffer so I figured that was why!)

I'm still on panther but that is not officially a problem acording to the specs.....

Damn it was sounding so good! Am so tempted to buy but not if it's going to be a pain.....

Check out Amplitube, it is a processor hog but then so are all the amp sims. Very nice sounds though!
