If the MOTU drivers were installed successfully under Windows, then you should be able to see several MOTU output devices as options. From the control panel, open the "Sounds and Audio Devices", select the Audio tab, and drop down the list in the Sound Playback section. You should see some choices like "MOTU Main Output" and "MOTU Phones Output" etc. If you don't see this, then the MOTU drivers are not installed correctly.

If you don't see that, then repost and we'll see where we go next.

Windows Sounds in Motu

Post by Craig DuBuc »

Hi Alpha Jerk, When I installed the Motu 2408 Mk3 in Win. XP it completely removed my system sound drivers making my onboard sound card completely inactive. They are no longer even listed in the device manager or sounds. Depending on your system all your routing should be done through the Motu and it's outs. Try the different drivers ASIO ,WDM/KS, MME. Different versions will not allow sounds ouput. Hope that helps.
Sincerely,Craig

yeah i still have my other soundcard installed and been thinking about removing it all together if motu would work properly on this front. first thing i have seen that MAC handles better than XP.... ah well, small price to pay for the change.

Windows sound are 22 something sampling rate. They will not play on the MOTU hardware coz it doesn't support that rate ! Chapter 10 Performance Tips & troubleshooting MOTU 896HD Manual pg 73
