Upgrade to DP5 w/out DP4 Installed

Post by zobomix »

It's a good feeling to coming back and checking this forum. I have decided to start using DP after a 2-year break, thinking that PT and Ableton Live could give me the MIDI features that DP has. MIDI clock drifts and cumbersome MIDI edting in PT and Live led me to come back to DP but I have this problem. Basically, I don't have DP installed on my computer and I am away from my home base. In other words, I am 1,200 miles away from my copy of DP4 but I would like to start using DP5.
Is it possible to upgrade and install DP5 without having a previous version already on the computer? I sent an email to motu about this but I definitely don't expect them to answer right away. Also, would you recommend the macudiolab videos for getting up to speed? I am feeling a bit rusty :D

Thanks.

Of course it is. Whether a new user is getting into DP for the first time paying full price, or even an old user who bought a new computer got the new version at user price-- it doesn't matter.

You should install the DP 5.0 version from your discs, then do the update... in that order.

Welcome back, btw! :P
