Motu 828 MKII as synth mixer for live rig?

Hey all.

I'm trying to turn my assortment of synths and such into a gigable, portable system. One piece I am missing is a portable mixer.

I've been eyeing the 828 as a potential, rack-mountable mixer for live performance (I've got four separate stereo outs I need to mix) as well as audio interface for my PC.

I'm wondering if anyone else here uses it as a live audio solution in such a way, and if so, what your experience has been like so far.

Looks like the 828mkII would be perfect for your live needs. Motu Boasts that their interfaces are usefull even as standalone mixers.

I think it would be easier for you to control the volume of individual synths by their output volume as apposed to fiddling around with the little wheel on the front of the 828. And beware - if the 828 clips, it can get UGLY!

Yeah, I wouldn't be too concerned with fiddling too much with the mixer itself live; I'd set it up ahead of time and then, as you say, use the volume controls on the instruments themselves.

Does the 828 have a particularly nasty clip, more than other digital devices? Is it very easy to clip?

Any digitalclip is unforgiving, so no nice and easy analog clip.
Either it clips hard or not.

They 828 features an option to select +4 or -10 inputs, so its easy to ajust to your needs.

@ +4 you'll need to put an lot of effort in getting it to clip, but if you don't know what you're doing....it's somehow always possible.
