Working, any improvements?

Stay away from?

I noticed the Vista drivers are out of public beta.

Works great if you are using it for audio apps (and not, say, games/dvd/etc.) and all your computer components are compatible. Some network cards seem to interfere, you need to have a TI 1394 chip and don't be surprised if it BSODs on you when you switch to a new sample rate... but once you've settled into doing actual work it behaves nicely.

I actually use mine to play DVDs, games, etc, and love it except that it has an annoying habit of going nuts when it changes sample rates and occasionally BSODs my system.

I'm not sure any other hardware is better supported... does anyone else write better drivers? I've heard bad, bad things about many companies, and mostly good words for MOTU, but then I don't have much experience with other hardware as I'm a noob to this kind of audio equipment.

I'm using the latest drivers on a XP machine, and as of yesterday, on a Vista Business Premium test box. I havent had problems on either at all. The trick is having a computer built with quality, compatable hardware in it and not expecting a POS HP from CircuitCity to work correctly.

the motu drivers are piece of crap. Audio apps run fine but games are making that squaky sound and after a while the sound just stops working. I know my hardware is not the problem cause it was fine under xp. The other issue is that i cannot get cubase asio to work without sync errors above 256 buffer.

Dont blame that on MOTU. My Vista testing is showing that the RME drivers perform just as poorly under Vista. Don't expect a brand new OS to work for about 9 months or so for REAL audio work, too many bugs to work out. Thats why we're not even offering Vista to our customers.
