"jitter" with any audio except Sonar

Post by jmorris »

For some reason, since I have experimented with using my outbaord gear through my motu2408mk3, when I play any audio ,be it media player, real player, sound forge, I get a jitter like sound, digital crackle. If audio is played in sonar 5 it is good. I run PC, MotuMK3 2408,PCI-424 card,Alesis HD24. All in my setup is set back to as before. Could it be a clock issue? In audio console I set clock to ADAT bank A optical, bank A,B,C are all set to ADAT. If I close out and re-open there is nothing in that clock space anymore, it is blank. Could the Motu be defective? Bad clock? I Cant see anything else I can change. I have ran this setup for 4 years without any issues. Can anyone help!

I've had that problem (Clock SOurce is blank) with the PCI drivers I downloaded from MOTU's site. They're dated sometime in 2006 (I think). I reverted to the June 2004 drivers and they work fine.

If you would like, I can email you the older drivers.

Hey Larry,
I am using the older drivers that came with the CD when I bought the Motu probably 4 years ago. But yes,I'd love to try the older drivers you have. I just did a fresh reinstall of the entire Motu software/ drivers and still no luck. I'll PM my emails.
Thanks!

No, no updates. I did finally get it working after 1 hour on the phone with Motu. They were a bit stumped. The odd thing was the audio console would not save my setting for clock source if I placed it on adat bank a optical. I removed all drivers from devise manager, the control pannel, updated software from Motu website and after about 8 reboots removing software/drivers and pci-424 card it finnaly took. The guy at Motu was helpful but still could not explain why I had the issue in the first place. I told him it was worked for the last 4 years with older drivers....so whats up now. Maybe some internal conflict developed with newer software. Maybe Quicktime but I dont remember updating that. So, I'm good as of now, thanks for all youir help guys! :D
