Freezing multiple tracks to DP5

Post by javierdh »

Any tips on freezing multiple MIDI tracks in a M5 "module" to separate audio tracks in DP5 in a single pass?

Freezing multi-out instruments

Post by carrythebanner »

Since the advent of input monitoring in DP 5, dealing with multi-out instruments is pretty easy:

- Create audio tracks for each of your instrument's outputs and set their input accordingly (in MachFive's case, to whatever busses you've assigned your outputs to in M5)
- When you want to hear the instrument's outputs, input monitor-enable each of these audio tracks
- When you want to freeze each output, simply record-enable them as well, and press record -- it'll record each output in realtime to those tracks
- When you're done recording, turn off input monitoring on those tracks

If I want to make some changes after I've recorded onto each track, I usually create a new take & enable input monitoring again. I can always switch back to the original take if I don't like my new changes, or record a new version on the new take.
"I don't see any method at all, sir."

Thanks for the info, a real time saver. It's funny how easy the solution was considering how complicated the approach I was triying was.

Thanks again
