Is that a testicle, er I mean technical question?

But seriously, Brad may be right - I had forgotten how good the 195 sounds. Will this guy let you try out the U195 before you trade?

Well that helped...sort of. I decided to hold off on the trade. I'm sure other deals like that can be had if I just wait a bit. I didn't want to jump into a deal that I was going to regret down the road.

Brad, I was just jerking your chain about the pricing on the Mojave. I have no greater satisfaction in life than being a PITA to people in sales.
I very well might be interested in talking to you about a mic upgrade here in the near future.

Phil O., if you could, I'd love to hear the recording you made with the U195. If you send/post it, let us know what your signal chain looked like as well. I'd be running mine throught the Seventh Circle Audio J99 and the into my 828mkii. Not exactly the nicest converters and clock, but the J99 is a smokin' pre.

Thanks again for all the opinions!

Actually it was a concert at a local church. It's too long to upload the whole thing, but perhaps I could extract a small section of it. Also, where do I post it? Does the User Showcase section have room for uploads, or is it just links to users sites?

Let me check this out and I'll get back to you.

I would do the trade for sure. I recently picked up the U195 and it has blown me away, I love it.

In case anyone unearths this thread... I'm an avid user of the Soundelux U195 and have been for about 5 years. I've put it up next to many mics and it never fails to turn heads. Singers always say "wow" ... I've had an established engineer reconsider his whole hatred of condensor mics on guitar cabs by listening to my U195 funk guitar tracks (on a vintage Fender Deluxe amp). Soprano sax sounds near holographic.

The U195 seems to have a roundness or softness that no other condensor mic I've heard has. Sort of a full, vintage quality, for lack of a better term. It also has a really sweet top... and it's positively astounding as a kick mic. There are just so many applications where this $900 mic makes people say "wow."

That said, I'd love to also own a multi-pattern workhorse like a 414. Especially a 414-TLII. The TLII is a good vocal mic, where the U-BLS isn't so great.
