<<Whoa... I'm about to sell my DM Pro and cough up a chunk of dough for a TD-20 module. Is there something I should know?>>

Nope. I was thinking of getting a V-Drum kit in late Dec. and there was a FALSE rumor that Roland might be about to release something new in the mid-range V-Drum line (TD-6), so I was waiting till NAMM to see if they announced anything. But NO new V-Drums at this time. All rumors turned out to be bogus information. Forget I mentioned it. The TD-20 remains their top of the line, state of the art, etc.

Personally, I wish that Roland would either partner up with one of the big drum sample libraries (Toontrack, Fxpansion, etc.), or else release a V-drum kit that has NO internal sounds but which is designed to be mapped to external sample instruments like BFD, DFHS, etc. But that is just pure wishware daydreaming on my part.

Best,
Babz

We've been hearing about it for months, and leading up to this there has been a lot of legal heat on the internet surrounding the Rhodes trademark etc., but now the real product is finally unveiled to the public. Details are still sketchy at this point, but we do know that the company scheduled a big Rhodes tribute concert w/ big name artists like George Duke, etc.

I played the rhodes and hung out and became buds with the designer/owner, very cool guy, very cool equipment, not available yet, still being tweeked, owner using NAMM feedback to decide what final feel of Rhodes will be. I want one, I liked the lighets action...boy was that fun.

Well it looks pretty close to MC. A few more buttons and larger meters. Hmm, what's the deal I wonder.

Nevermind. .. cool it has usb. right on!

HEY any one going today ask Mackie if DP is compatible..

Thanks
Made faders a bit better, really spent time on quality control. Now faders are test 24 hrs and re checked before being shipped.

The unit feels nicer and is only about 100oo more..not a bad deal..

Yikes!

http://www.roland.com/products/en/V-Synth_GT/index.html

Ya'know... the V-Synth (like the Emu Morpheus and Korg Wacestation AD - all of which I have owned) are damn complex machines. I would suspect that many users just use the factory presets and never really touch the deep down stuff.

Now the GT is adding MORE to that, and while I have not heard it yet not seen a complete description of the architecture, I would guess it is even deeper than the V-Synth. $3.2k is a LOT of bucks for a synth, especially considering some of the excellent VIs out there. I mean, that much buys you a Mac Pro laptop and a few sofwtare packages as well as a controller keyboard and Firewire interface! So I wonder who the terget market is?

Thanks for the excellent report. Now we need to know who was dancing on the table at the MOTU dinner...

They had a DP overlay there with the new one, but I didn't get a chance to ask any questions about it.

I'm wondering to which extend my MC would become obsolete?
I hope that all the drivers that will be updated for MCPro will also be updated for MC. I'm also wondering if it will be possible to combine an MC with an extender-Pro?

Zoom's coming out with an H-2, like the H-4 but smaller and without the 4-track feature.

Got my hands on the Frontier Alphatrack and liked it.

UA has a new plug-in processor that connects to an Expresscard interface for Mac Book Pros. Should communicate w/ the processor with the same speed as ESATA.

Mics look bigger/smaller than you'd ever think from pictures. The ATM450 is like 4 inches long.

Digidesign didn't unveil a 003.

It looks awful nice... glad you can report positively on the touch test. I'm waiting on delivery from Sweetwater now. Any hint of a shipping date?

I think the Tronical auto guitar tuners are going to be one of my favorites...

FXPansion are doing some amazing stuff with BFD Drums...
