Really LOOOONG LATENCY problem

Post by Dynamitastudios »

Hi there!
I‘m working a MOTU 896hd thru Windows XPpro sp2 on a MacIntel. I was working under AMD2800xp PC, and I had a terrible latency problem (it was more than 22ms on a buffer of 512!!!!). Now I have moved to MacIntel and I have tried all the ways, but it seems impossible to go under 12ms, which is unacceptable to a PRO interface. I‘m thinking serious to change this to another interface if I get no info about how to change this, and I would not get this answers from MOTU like "try to another computer" or "install new firewires"... I can‘t change my systems to work with this "problems-loaded" MOTU any time it doesn‘t wanna work!!!!
Please help!!! And of course thanks to you for reading all this words!

With your buffer settings set to 256 you should be close to 5ms.

Dell Dimension Pro 3Ghz. 4Gig onboard. Reason 3.03 Ultralite
I am using an Ultralite, and for 2 months had no latecncy problems. I was down around 8ms, now , (as of last night), I have almost 500ms of delay. I've changed nothing! Any thoughts.

Have any of you considered using the low latency CueMix?

Paul,

Yes I do use Cuemix for remote recording scenarios, but my application where the latency is an issue concerns me using my PC as a Drum Module using the Reason Drum refills. I used to be able to play it just like a Roland Drum machine, and now , (once again reiterating that no changes were made,) have almost a half second of delay. I used to record out of the SPDIF outs, and those will not work either. Any thoughts,?

Thanks in advance for your time
