For some reason the ID‘s are switched. The 1st MOTU machine I installed is now number 2 and the 2nd is number one.
Since I have very specific inputs and outputs attached to each unit, it would make things so much easier if there is a way I can switch the ID‘s. Making what is now recognized as MOTU # 2 -> To # 1 and vice versa.
Anyone?
Using 2 828 MK II´s - how to switch the ID of the machines?

I'm pretty sure the ID is burned into the ROM for each machine (just like a MAC ID on your cable/DSL modem).
What you are really asking for is, "how can I change the order of the devices".
Assuming you have one plugged into your firewire interface and the other plugged into the first, I would try swapping that.
The other thing I would try is changing the order in which they are powered on.
These are just guesses.

well, the manual says that after installation, each machine is given an ID based on in which order they get powered up. After that they keep that ID.Anonymous wrote:I'm pretty sure the ID is burned into the ROM for each machine (just like a MAC ID on your cable/DSL modem).

For some reason, even though I installed these 2 motus in the same order I always do, the order got messed up (never seen this before).
And the manual dedicates a small section that it calls "managing ID‘s" - but the section doesnt actually mention anything useful except how to temporarily turn off one machine.
I can always un-install the machines and then try and fix it that way, but I was hoping there is an easier way.
